Fairfield Community High School Varsity Scholastic Team Tied For Ninth Place In National Academic Tournament

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Fairfield Community High School varsity scholastic team tied for ninth place in the National Academic Tournament.  The team participated in the national tournament in Washington DC on June 1-2.  The team went 4 and 2 to advance to the playoffs.

On Sunday, the team competed in the virtual finals.  In the first match of the playoffs, FCHS defeated Southhold, New York.  They fell to Parkland, Pennsylvania to complete the tournament.

In Washington DC, FCHS defeated Smithton East, New York; Smithton West, New York; Father Duenas, Guam; and St. Vincent-St. Mary, Ohio.  They fell to East Penn, Pennsylvania and Parkland, Pennsylvania.

Participating for FCHS were seniors  Gabriel Barbre and Chase Cline and juniors Maveryck Lyons, Jacob Maguire, and Jake Walker.

Coach Tammy Austin commented, “I am so proud of this team and their representation of our community and area.  This is a huge accomplishment.

While in Washington DC, the team was able to visit many historical sites in the city.
