An 18-year-old man from Mt. Vernon has been arrested in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on Tuesday afternoon, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries to a man who was hospitalized. The shooting took place in an alley on Logan Street, with two offenders identified through witnesses and surveillance footage. Gabriel Ellinger was taken into custody without incident by a patrol officer at 17th and Broadway. He has been charged with Aggravated Battery with a firearm and possession of a controlled substance. The Mt. Vernon Police Department is still seeking a male juvenile offender involved in the incident. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office provided assistance in the investigation, which remains ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the MVPD at 618-242-2131.
