The Wayne City Board of Education held its regular June meeting on Thursday, June 20, 2024. A public hearing on the FY 24 Amended Budget was held. There was no public comment.
Ryan Reu, with Farnsworth Group, gave a presentation of the drawings and specifications for the outdoor classroom/play area project. He included information on the proposed schedule for bidding, proposed alternate bids, and proposed furniture options.
The Board approved consent agenda items including minutes from the May meeting , eliminating closed session minutes from December 2022, and rescheduling the regular July board meeting to July 25, 2024 at 6:00 pm.
The Board acted on the following personnel items. Hayden Gire was hired to fill the vacant custodian position. The Board accepted the resignation of Jessica Shelton as high school softball coach and Mike Greenwalt as the volunteer assistant for high school softball.
The Board approved the FY 24 Amended Budget as well as the drawings and specifications for the outdoor classroom/play area. Student Handbook changes for the 2024-2025 school year were approved. Other action included approval of the commercial insurance renewal for FY 25 and the audit engagement with Dennis Rose and Associates. Finally, the Board approved entering into a 3 year intergovernmental agreement with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office for a School Resource Officer.
