The Carmi location of the Secretary of State’s Driver’s License facility was set to close today, however, they now have a new location.  llinois Secretary of State, Alexi Giannoulias announced the opening of a new DMV facility in Carmi will be located at White County Center at 1700 College Ave. and will open to the public beginning on Friday, June 28th

Giannoulias’ office worked with State Representative Dave Severin (116th House District—Benton) and State Senator Terri Bryant (58th Senate District—Murphysboro) to find a new location to serve the residents of White County.

“This new facility is a win for White County residents and a win for taxpayers,” said Giannoulias, noting that all employees will retain their jobs working at the new facility. “Relocating the Carmi facility allows us to offer residents a newer, larger facility in a more convenient location that comes without having to use taxpayer dollars to pay rent for basic government services.”

The current facility, located at 1128 Oak St., will now close on Thursday while equipment is moved to the new location, which will open on Friday.

Giannoulias reminded White County residents to visit www.ilsos.gov to explore newly expanded digital services that may allow them to skip a trip to the DMV to renew their driver’s license or vehicle registration.
