Laura Louise (Shelby) McCurdy, 98 of Albion peacefully passed from this life to the next on June 27, 2024, at Carle Richland Hospital in Olney, Illinois.
She was born on July 27, 1925, in West Salem, Illinois, to Ora and Carrie (Gaede) Shelby. Laura married Glenn B. (Mack) McCurdy on February 27, 1943, in Albion, Illinois. They were blessed with three daughters Nancy Ann Latshaw of Grayville, Illinois, Mary Katherine (Gary) Schnitz of Carmel, Indiana, and Laura Beth (Pat) Copeland of Albion; and one son, Mike (Bonita) McCurdy of Albion, Illinois.
She is survived by her children, grandchildren Kevin, Brent, Tassy, Carrie, John, Sarah, Matthew, Brian, and Megan, 16 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and one sister-in-law, Wanda Shelby.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and siblings: Delores Carlson, Audrey Humphrey, Bill Shelby and 2 infant siblings; a son-in-law Michael Latshaw; great granddaughter Sarah Jane Hammell; and several nieces and nephews.
Laura was a faithful member of Little Prairie Christian Church in Albion, Illinois. She enjoyed making quilts, gardening, and making her family’s favorite soft sugar cookies, loved by all.
Services for Laura Louise McCurdy will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2024, at Ingram Meridith Funeral Home in Albion, Illinois with burial following at the Moravian Cemetery at West Salem, Illinois. Family and friends may visit from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2024.
