Mitzi Gayle (Allen) Cheek, 48, of Enfield, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. She was born on July 13, 1975, in Carmi, Illinois, the daughter of Willard and Maxine (Oldham) Allen Jr. Mitzi married Lige Kelly Cheek on April 17, 1997, and he survives. She graduated from NCOE High School in 1993. Mitzi then went on to receive her Associates Degree at Frontier Community College. She worked at Walmart in Carmi for 17 years. She was of Baptist faith. Mitzi enjoyed rock and arrowhead hunting and loved listening to music.
In addition to her husband, Kelly Cheek of Enfield, IL, Mitzi is survived by her sons, Cale Allen Cheek, Camden D Cheek and Maxin E Cheek; siblings, Vickie Flannigan of Springerton, IL, Annie Rose of Enfield, IL, Barry (Pamela) Flannigan of McLeansboro, IL. and Patty Pennington of Mill Shoals, IL; a half sister, Marsha Healy of Norris City, IL; nieces and nephews, B.J. Pennington, Milissa Patterson, Patrick Flanningan and Colton Flannigan; great niece and nephews, Brady Thrane, Raynie Johnson and Kellie Pennigton. She is preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Debbie Key; and a brother, Gary Allen.
A visitation will be held for Mitzi Gayle Cheek from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Stendeback Funeral Home in Enfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Mitzi’s memory to the American Heart Association and will be accepted at Stendeback Funeral Home in Enfield, or may be mailed to 609 W.
