A new agreement has been finalized for the Cave In Rock Ferry.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) and IDOT have been in discussions with the Ohio River Ferry Authority (ORFA) in Crittenden County, Kentucky, since February to establish a new two-year agreement in support of the Cave-in-Rock Ferry.

Under the updated terms of the agreement, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and the Ohio River Ferry Authority have mutually agreed to a 13% increase in annual funding, bringing the total contract amount to $1,878,060 per year. These adjustments ensure compliance with the state’s procurement regulations and enhance transparency surrounding the utilization of state funds to sustain the ferry service.

The Cave-in-Rock Ferry, which carries approximately 300 vehicles daily at no charge to travelers, remains a reliable transportation option for journeys between Cave-in-Rock, Illinois, and Crittenden County, Kentucky, eliminating the need for alternative routes.
