MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL:

St. Louis Cardinals were off Monday and will begin a series with the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight in Pittsburgh. The Cardinals are 43-40 and 2nd in the NL Central. Game time is at 5:40.

The Chicago Cubs were also off Monday and they will open up a series at Wrigley Field against the Philadelphia Phillies tonight. First pitch is at 7:05. The Cubs are 39-46, 5th in the NL Central.

The Chicago White Sox is in Cleveland tonight. Game time is at 5:40. The Sox stand at 24-62, 5th in the AL Central.

NHL NEWS:

The St. Louis Blues are bringing back one of their top forwards. The team signed Kasperi Kapanen to a one-year contract worth one-million dollars yesterday. The 27-year-old joined St. Louis in the middle of the 2022-23 season. He scored six goals and tallied 16 assists in 73 appearances last season.

The Chicago Blackhawks had a busy first day of free agency yesterday. The team signed eight free agents to kick off the offseason yesterday. The Hawks brought on former Maple Leafs forward Tyler Bertuzzi with a four-year contract worth five-and-a-half million annually. Chicago also re-signed forward Teuvo Teravainen on a three-year deal. The Blackhawks rounded out the day by inking forwards Pat Maroon, Craig Smith, and Joey Anderson, defensemen Alec Martinez and TJ Brodie, and goaltender Laurent Brossoit.

NBA NEWS:

The Chicago Bulls are bolstering their front court. The team signed center Jalen Smith to a three-year contract worth 27-million dollars yesterday. The former Pacer averaged nearly ten points and five-and-a-half rebounds per game in Indiana last season. In other team news, the Sun-Times is reporting that DeMar DeRozan will not consider returning to the Bulls after the team traded for Josh Giddey last month.
