Betty J. Blazier, 93, Carmi

Betty J. Blazier, 93, died May 28, 2023, at Wabash Christian Village. She was born Sept. 29, 1929, in White County to Nathaniel M. and Virginia P. (Pyle) Brockett. She was a 1948 graduate of what was then Carmi Township High School and attended Murray State University, majoring in music. As a child, she and her family attended Kingdom Baptist Church in rural Carmi. As an adult, she was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Carmi, where she served for decades as organist. She married Walter E. Blazier on Jan. 27, 1951. He preceded her in death on June 2, 2003. Her funeral, also on June 2, marks the exact 20th anniversary of her husband’s death.     Survivors include a son, Sam (Ginger) Blazier of Bunnlevel, NC., and a daughter, Bonnie Blazier Marx of Kansas City, MO. Grandchildren are Matt Gamble, Marion, IL.; Tom (Julie) Marx, Manhattan, IL.; Rachel (Justin) Herron, Overland Park, KS.; Megan (Anthony) Knight, Fayetteville NC.; Samantha Blazier, Fayetteville, NC.; and Keenan (Hope Rein) Knight, Eau Claire, WI. Great-grandchildren are HM3 Leilani Gamble, U.S. Navy, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; Jemma Gamble, Marion, IL.; Elliott and Noah Herron, Overland Park, KS.; Natalia and Adrian Marx, Manhattan, IL.; Michael (Samantha) Bacot, Tyler (Alexis Harris) Bryant, Samuel, Raelynn and Layla Blazier, all of Fayetteville, NC.; Willow and Kaden Knight, of Eau Claire, WI. There are four great-great grandchildren, with a fifth expected this month, and many nieces and nephews. Along with her husband, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley and Gaylord Brockett.     Funeral arrangements for Betty Blazier are entrusted to Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Friday, June 2, 2023, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 2, 2023.  Interment will be in Kingdom Cemetery in Carmi.
