Dozens of law enforcement officers and agencies in Illinois are being honored by state and local officials. The Law Enforcement Medal of Honor Committee awarded 136 officers from 41 agencies the Medal of Honor in recognition of their brave and sacrificial service to the citizens of Illinois. Those recognized included officers with the Illinois State Police, the Illinois Conservation Police, and the Illinois Gaming Board.

One of the families that received the Medal of Honor was the family of fallen Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputy Sean Riley. Riley was a deputy for the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department for 3 years when in late 2021, he was killed following a motorist assist at mile marker 115 on I-64.
