Additional Notes from Fairfield City Council Meeting on Tuesday

The Fairfield City Council met for their first June meeting with appointments highlighting a short session.

Council members unanimously approved an ordinance that changes the terms of appointees, such as Police Chief, City Collector, etc.
Previously, these appointments came up for reappointment at the first council meeting of the new fiscal year. Councilmen however, have changed this annual appointment to now coincide with the term of the mayor.

All appointees were unanimously approved by the council.

Former Wayne County Sheriffs Deputy Ben Lewis was appointed to the position of Assistant Police Chief. Lewis and his family have recently returned to Wayne County from the United Kingdom. Lewis will begin his duties immediately.

The TIF #2 Project Area (Farrington Farms) was officially dissolved by the council at last night’s meeting.

Mayor Moore reminded Fairfield Residents that Wayne White Coop has a Round Up program where a person’s electric bill can be rounded up to the next dollar, with these funds going into their WORKS Fund, which assists residents who are experiencing financial hardship, such as medical expenses. The mayor also reminded residents that Wayne White also offers Air Evac Memberships for $5.00 per month. Please contact Wayne White with any questions on these services.

IDOT will be holding an informational meeting on June 27at 12 regarding the ongoing road project currently underway in Fairfield. The meeting will be held at Jovalou Restaurant in downtown Fairfield.

Alderman Dewey Eckleberry advised the attendees that Kincaids still has 50 gallons of primer and 50 gallons of white paint for any group or organization to paint houses in need, This project was initially started by former Mayor Mike Dreith as a community beautification project. The eligible homes must be owner-occupied, with no rental properties eligible.
