Lois Fay (Gregory) Dickey, 91, of Sims, IL passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, IN. Lois was born January 28, 1932 in Keenes, IL a daughter of Robert & Nova (Bozarth) Gregory. On February 10, 1948 she married William Harold Dickey, who preceded her in death in 2007.
Lois was a homemaker & mother of 4 children. She was a member of the Arrington Prairie/Dickeyville Missionary Baptist Church in Sims, IL and served as the church’s pianist for 60 years. She loved to play music, and started playing piano in her church when she was only 6 years old. She was a member of The Gospel Road Singers group, which produced 3 records. She enjoyed quilting, camping, and taking family vacations. She loved spending time with family & friends, and enjoyed cooking family dinners.
Lois is survived by 2 daughters: Brenda (Brad) Miller of Sims, IL and Sandra Draper of Kansas City, MO; 2 sons: Randy (Sherry) Dickey of Sims, IL and David (Diana) Dickey of Hutchinson, KS; 16 grandchildren: Tammy (Jody) Gill, Sherry (David) Medder, Tim (Doneta) Draper, Mark (Jennifer) Miller, Chris (Dana) Dickey, Becky (Virgil) Hunt, Jill (Chris) Bremer, Jennifer (Joshua) Kunce, Karla (Joey) Pierce, Beth (Marty) Gibson, Marissa Dickey, Jason (Maria) Dickey, Joshua (Marie) Dickey, Tom (Colleen) Dickey, Niki (John) Fain, and Marie (Mike) Vergara; 39 great-grandchildren, 20 great-great grandchildren; 5 sisters-in-law: Otha Lee Weaver, Irene Barbee, Eileen Gregory, Bev James, and Dorothy Dickey; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by both parents Robert & Nova Gregory, her husband William Harold Dickey, 3 brothers: Noel Gregory, Marvin Gregory, and Eddie Gregory; and 6 sisters: Luella Shaw, Isabelle Henson, Louise Thomason, Doris Henson, Susie Johnson, and an infant sister.
Funeral services for Lois Fay (Gregory) Dickey will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City, IL with Pastor Ed Windland and Pastor Tammy Gill officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon on Saturday at Young Funeral Home. Interment will follow the funeral service at Arrington Prairie/Dickeyville Cemetery in Sims, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Arrington Prairie/Dickeyville Cemetery Fund, and will be accepted at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City.
