The Fairfield WalMart store was closed for a time Friday after employees said their internet went down Friday morning, and their registers, computers and phones were unable to function, causing business to cease. Store employees were seen at the store entrance telling customers attempting to enter the store that they were not letting any customers in the store due to the internet and register issues. The store was closed around mid-morning on Friday.
WFIW/WOKZ news was able to check with other WalMart stores in the area. It was reported that the Centralia and Mt. Vernon stores were open for business. Unconfirmed reports said several WalMart stores had been closed for a time on Friday. It was not known if those closures were also for internet issues.
Reports did indicate the Fairfield WalMart was able to reopen early Friday evening.
