Area Volleyball Roundup from Tuesday

The Fairfield Lady Mules Volleyball Team improved their record to 13-0 as they defeated Newton in sets that were at times difficult. The Mules were down 17-13 in set 1 before going in a 12-5 rally to take the set 25-22. In set 2, Fairfield jumped out to a 10-3 lead before Newton Rallied back to within a point. An infraction on Newton gave Fairfield the change to grow the lead back out and eventually, the lady mules closed out the set 25-19. Freshman and JV matches also went to Fairfield . JV set scores were 25-12, 25-11 while freshman set scores were 25-22, 25-19.

The Edwards County Lady Lions down Grayville in straight sets 25-14, 25-10. At the match, Edwards County honored last year’s girls basketball team as they were the school’s first sweet 16 team in history. The team also received their banner during the ceremony that will be in the rafters of the Linda Oxby gymnasium. The JV contest also went to Edwards County 25-16, 25-16. Lady Lions are back in action Thursday at Newton.

The Cisne Running Lions defeated Wayne City in action on Tuesday. In varsity action, Cisne won 26-24, 17-25, 25-14. In the JV contest, Cisne won in set scores of 25-21, 25–18.

In other area volleyball action, from Tuesday,

Carmi-White County made easy work of Flora 25-3, 25-12. Hamilton County defeated Sesser-Vailer-Waltonville 25-6, 25-10.
