Jerry Schott, 79, Fairfield

Jerry Lee Schott, 79, of Fairfield, died at 4:45am on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at his home.

Jerry was born on September 20, 1943, in Sims, IL, to Lawrence and Alberta (Linder) Schott. He married Loretta Belle (Hayes) Schott on September 21, 1963. They would have been married 60 years this week. They worked side by side buying and selling timber and, also, logging timber.

Jerry was a deacon at the Merriam Congregational Christian Church until it relocated as Calvary Congregational Christian Church. In 2014, Calvary was renamed Thee House of Prayer and Praise.

Survivors include his wife Loretta Schott, two daughters Gigette (Jeff) Courtright and Rebecca (Gene) Kollak both of Fairfield, an honorary son Dakota Schott of Fairfield, five grandchildren Andrea (Dallas) Bumpus, Cody Courtright, Brandi Courtright (finace’ Zach Donsbach), Storm (Taylor) Kollak, and Sky (Kendra) Kollak, seven great grandchildren Gabriella, Madison, Cayden, Sequoia, Gage, Kenton, and Laken, four step great grandchildren, and three step great great grandchildren, two sisters Marlene Smith of Flora, and Marla Schott of Fairfield, along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Joyce Buchanan, a grandson Josh Kollak, and a nephew JR Tucker.

Funeral services for Jerry Schott will be at 1pm on Friday, September 22nd at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial to follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at 11am until the time of service at the funeral home. The Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
