Reports out of Marion County say an Odin, IL woman died Friday afternoon when the vehicle she was driving crashed into an Amtrak train on Westline Road about a half-mile north of U.S. Route 50 in Marion County.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office is investigating the accident. According to Marion County Coroner Troy Cannon, at about 4 p.m. Friday 60-year-old Sheri J. Foltz of Patoka, IL was southbound on Westline Road when her vehicle was hit by the train traveling southwest through the crossing. Marion County Sheriff’s deputies and United Medical Services arrived on scene and attempted to resuscitate Foltz. She was later pronounced dead at the scene. The crossing is marked with crossbuck signage only, the report said.
Illinois State Police personnel also assisted at the scene, along with Odin Fire Department personnel.
