Flora City Council Meets Tonight

The Flora City Council will hold its first December session at 4:30 this afternoon at Flora City Hall.

Under business, the council will hear an update from Milano & Grunloh Engineers about grants the city has applied for. The council will look to approve a $5,000 grant for facade work to China Buffett and work on approving the Paid Leave for Workers Act requirements that are a state mandate starting in January.

City officials will look into approving Non-Union Wage Increases. Those increases include Utility Clerk – 3.75% increase effective January 1, 2024 and a 6-month increase of 50₵/hour effective January 24, 2024, the Police Department Administrative Assistant, Finance Clerk, Billing Clerk – $1.00/hour raise plus a 3.75% increase effective January 1, 2024, and Building & Zoning Official, City Clerk, Chief of Police, City Treasurer, Superintendent of Public Services, Assistant Chief of Police – 3.75% increase effective January 1, 2024.

Finally, city officials will look into a tax levy to fund the police pensions and a tax levy for corporate taxes for this year, payable in 2024.
