88 year old Mill Shoals, Illinois resident, Ruth C. Venters passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023 at her home surrounded by her five children and loving husband. She was born on December 21, 1935 in Cuba, New Mexico to Ralph (Len) and Nova (Hollinger) Reynolds. Ruth married James William (Bill) Venters on August 7, 1954.
In addition to her beloved husband of sixty-nine years, Ruth is survived by her daughter, Cathy Shuler of Mill Shoals, daughter Diana (Steve) Merritt of Hanson, KY. Son, Jim (Sue) Venters of Heber, AZ, daughter Vicki (Bob) Farley of Mt. Vernon, IL and son John (Tonya) Venters of Old Hickory, TN. Her Grandchildren, Jason, Michelle, Allison, Shannon, Tammy, Angela, Josiah, Michael, Junior, Bobbi, Vonda, Leanna, Carl, Elisha, William, Mandy, Carissa, Jennifer, Anthony and Corbin. There are many great-grandchildren and several great great grandchildren, all adored by their Grandma Ruth.
Preceding her in death were her parents, siblings, Bayless, Etta Mae, Charlie, Buddy, Ivah, Laura, Ella Mae and her nephew, Johnny that was raised as a brother. Grandchildren, Jessica, David, Jenni, Shaun and Brandie. Great grandchild infant Alaina.
Ruth was a home maker, wife and true partner to Bill for nearly seven decades. She was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was a strong Christian with a beautiful soprano voice that she used to praise God throughout her life. She was a Sunday School teacher and choir director for most of her adulthood and joyfully raised her five children in the church.
A Celebration of Life service for Ruth C. Venters will be held, 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Nale’s Funeral Home with her great grandson, Matthew Erxleben officiating.
