Wayne County Board Recap for January

The Wayne County Board met last night for their regularly scheduled monthly meeting.
The board unanimously approved a contract with Clay County Hospital to provide ambulance service for Garden Hill, Zif, and Keith Townships. Since the dissolution of the North Wayne Ambulance Service, it became necessary to seek alternative service to many parts of Northern Wayne County. The contract will run from February 1 to November 30 of 2024.
The board approved an ARPA request from Coroner Carrie Dagg to purchase 12 AED’s for use in the Sheriffs Department Vehicles and Coroner’s vehicles. The total for the request is $31,626.
County Clerk Lizann Woodrow informed attendees that all of their voting machines had undergone maintenance and were ready for the March 19 election. Early voting begins on February 8.
County Treasurer Yvette Anderson reported that 320 parcels were sold at the annual tax sale.
The board unanimously approved resolution to replace a bridge at Skillet Fork along 1550 N RD.
Building and Grounds Committee Chairman Eddie Barbre reported that a final punch list on the courthouse project had been completed and final payment to the contractor was approved.
Coroner Dagg conducted a presentation, outlining the physical improvements to their building and the new equipment that is being installed.
