After the cold weather of last week, National Weather Service Officials say that flooding and flash flooding may become a possibility throughout the area.
According to Weather Service Forecasters in Paducah, the ground, following the melting of the snow in the area followed with the amounts of rainfall has caused the ground to be saturated with almost all of the moisture that it can handle. Rain returns to the forecast today as well as for the weekend.
A Flood Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service at Lincoln for the Little Wabash River in Clay and Richland Counties. Officials are estimating the flooding to be minor with a crest at 19.6 feet on Friday. The flood stage on the Little Wabash in that area is 18 feet. As of this morning, the river was around 18.6 feet.
