Fairfield Mules Baseball team lost to Mt. Carmel, 3-2 in extra innings in the Class 2A Baseball Regional Championship played Saturday in Mt. Carmel.

The Edwards County Lady Lions shutout Odin Saturday,16-0 to win a 1A Regional Championship. The Lady Lions improved to 22-12 on the season.
2023/24 Midland Trail Softball All-Conference Selections
The 2023/24 Midland Trail Softball All-Conference Selections were named Friday. They include: Kenna Anselment, Wayne City; Ava Kleinschmidt, Grayville; Payton Knight, Webber and Kaleya Porter from Cisne. Receiving Honorable Mention: Addi Tate, Grayville and Emma Withrow from Webber.
Third Place At State Meet:
Senior, Desirae Dockery, of Hamilton County placed third in the Long Jump at Saturday’s Class 1A Girls State Track meet at Eastern Illinois University. Desirae jumped 17’ 6.75” to bring home the 3rd place medal.

PGA CHAMPIONSHIP:
Xander Schauffele got up-and-down from just off the green to birdie the 72nd hole of the PGA Championship and win his first major title on Sunday.
Schauffele edged out Bryson DeChambeau by just one shot to claim the Wanamaker Trophy. That birdie helped Schauffele reach 21-under for the week – the lowest total at a major championship in golf history.
