Several Fairfield Mules football players will be suiting up again for the BLUE team, this time for the 2024 Southern Illinois Coaches Association All-Star Football Game tonight at 7pm at Murphysboro High School. Players in the game representing Fairfield include; Trey Mason, Latrael Snyder, Jay Snyder, Vega Stanley and Bronson Rilea. The BLUE team Coach Justin Townsend of the Mules and Coach Joe Clark of the Eldorado Eagles are Co-Chairs of the All-Star Game which represent 30 schools across Southern Illinois all the way over to the Metro East. Gates will open at 5pm with food trucks available and the concession stand will also be open. Admission to the game is $7

 

The Southern Illinois Baseball Coaches Association is gearing up for their annual all-star games this Sunday, featuring talented players from the region. The senior game is scheduled to kick off at 1 PM, followed by the underclassman game at 4 PM, both taking place at Itchy Jones Stadium on the Southern Illinois University campus. Representing Fairfield High School in the senior game will be Dylan Fleener, Landon Harrelson, and Creson White, while Talen Hixenbaugh and Ian Puckett will be showcasing their skills in the underclassman game.

MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL:

The Cardinals dropped their series opener after falling to the Colorado Rockies 3-2 at Busch Stadium. Sonny Gray suffered his fourth loss of the season after allowing three runs on two hits over four and two-thirds innings. Michael Siani went one for three with an RBI single for the Cards. St. Louis is now tied for third in the NL Central at 29-and-32 and will continue its four-game series tonight.

The Cubs had their two-game winning streak snapped after falling to the Reds 8-4 in their series opener from Cincinnati. Christopher Morel and Seiya Suzuki blasted two-run homers for the team’s entire offense. Javier Assad got the loss after giving up five runs on seven hits over five-plus innings. Chicago is still second in the NL Central at 31-and-32 and will continue the four-game set tonight.
