WNBA:
The Indiana Fever have now won two straight WNBA games and passed the Chicago Sky in the standings after beating the Sky 91-83 in front of a sold out crowd in Indianapolis and an afternoon matinee nationwide TV audience on the CBS network.
Caitlin Clark led all scorers with 23 points. The outstanding rookie also grabbed 8 rebounds, dished out 9 assists and blocked 2 shots. The Fever also had three other players in double figures with Boston, Mitchell, and Smith joining Clark in an effective balanced attack.
The Chicago Sky were led by Maria Mabrey with 22 points. Rookie, Angel Reese, had 11 points and 13 rebounds in the loss. The Fever have won both meetings over the Sky this season.
Clark and Reese were rivals in college, where Clark played for Iowa and Reese played for LSU. Interest in the WNBA has grown tremendously this year due to the popularity and following established by these players.
Caitlin Clark now has five games of 15+ points, 5+ assists and 5+ rebounds. That’s a big milestone, because the last rookie to have five such games, was Breanna Stewart in 2016.
Meanwhile, Reese has been averaging a double-double as a Rookie this season.
