The  Sew Nifty Sisterhood Quilt Guild is having their bi-annual quilt show and quilt raffle at Flora High School on Friday, July 12th from 10am to 4pm and Saturday, July 13th from 9am to 4pm and will feature a scavenger hunt, photo spot to take your selfies, themed area, several vendors, a make and take, and most importantly over 100 quilts for your viewing pleasure. The drawing for this raffle quilt will be held promptly at 4 pm on the 13th. The guild will also be raffling off a Baby Lock Presto II sewing machine which will raise money for future guild presentations, guest speakers or education. You do not need to be present to win either prize but the winner of the sewing machine will need to pick it up at My Mother’s Legacy in Flora.

The Sew Nifty Sisterhood Quilt guild was founded in 2018. Their mission statement is to stimulate an interest in quilts and quilt making, educate and uplift its members, provide for the exchange of information, and encourage community giving. The guild’s community giving is prominently shown in many ways, but none more so than in their commitment to providing quilts to foster children in Clay, Marion, Jefferson, Richland, Edwards and other surrounding counties. Some of the agencies serviced include DCFS in Mt Vernon, Lutheran Child and Family Services, Spiro Children’s Home and Olney DCFS. At this time guild members have made and donated over 350 quilts.   A portion of this year’s quilt raffle proceeds will be donated to Beyond the Wall in Flora. Purchase your chance to win by contacting Michele Anderson at 618-843-1718, Janna Doris at 618-339-3372 or any guild member. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5.

The Sew Nifty quilt guild meets on the second Monday of each month at 6:30 pm at The First Christian Church in Flora and is welcoming new members. Stop by and check out a meeting or hop over to their Facebook page to discover more details about the guild.
