FRONTIER BOBCATS SOFTBALL 2 PERSON GOLF SCRAMBLE SET FOR SATURDAY JULY 27TH:

Frontier Bobcats Softball team will be hosting a 2-person golf scramble on Saturday, July 27th at the Fairfield Public Golf Course. Registration fee is $75 per player with tee off time at 9am. 27 holes-flighted after the first 9. Lunch will be provided. To sign up, contact the Fairfield Public Golf Course on Facebook.

MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL:

The Cardinals cruised past the Braves 6-2 to claim their series from Atlanta. Miles Mikolas earned the win after giving up two runs on seven hits over six innings. Paul Goldschmidt, Alec Burleson, Lars Nootbaar and Willson Contreras slugged solo home runs. St. Louis has won three of its last five games to remain second in the NL Central at 52-and-47. Andre Pallante starts for the Cardinals against the Pirates tonight in Pittsburgh at 5:40.

Nico Hoerner walked in the winning run with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Cubs beat the Diamondbacks 2-1 at Wrigley Field. Hoerner’s walk-off walk was made possible after Seiya Suzuki singled in the tying run in the ninth inning for the Cubs, who avoided the three-game sweep. Hector Neris was credited with his eighth win. The Cubs remain in fourth place in the NL Central at 48-and-53. Javier Assad starts for the Cubs against Milwaukee tonight in Chicago at 7:05.

The Chicago White Sox are on a seven-game losing streak following a 4-1 loss to the Royals at Kauffman Stadium. The game was tied in the bottom of the eighth before the White Sox surrendered three runs. Tommy Pham drove in Chicago’s only run with a sixth-inning single. The Sox remain last in the AL Central at 27-and-74. Chicago sends Erick Fedde to the mound against the Rangers tonight in Texas at 7:05.

USA Women’s Basketball Prepares For Olympics In WNBA All-Star Game:

Team USA women’s basketball is gearing up for the Olympics, which start this week in Paris. The squad played Team WNBA in the WNBA All-Star Game Saturday at the Footprint Center in Phoenix. Team USA lost the game 117-109 and trailed by as much as 20 points. Breanna [[ bree-ANN-nuh ]] Stewart had 31 points in the loss while A’ja Wilson chipped in with 22. Two Rookies also set records in the win by the WNBA Stars, as Caitlin Clark set a record for 10 Assists in the win, while Angel Reese set a record by becoming the first Rookie to snag a double-double in the All/Star game as she scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
