CROSSVILLE RESIDENT FOUND GUILTY OF CRIMINAL SEXUAL ASSAULT IN WHITE COUNTY

Following a weeklong trial in White County Circuit Court, a Crossville resident. 54-year-old Emmit Connely has been convicted by a jury on one count of Criminal Sexual Assault of a family member under the age of 18.   Connely had previously faced similar charges in Edwards County in 2003, where he was found guilty and sentenced to a total of 6 years. The sentences at that time were mandated to run concurrently.

 

The verdict was delivered last Friday after the jury deliberated for approximately 7 hours. Additionally, the jury returned not guilty verdicts on two other charges, one for the same offense on a different date and another for Criminal Sexual Abuse on a third date.

 

Connely is now awaiting sentencing in White County Court, scheduled for September 5th.
