FAIRFIELD PARK BOARD MEETING RECAP FROM AUGUST 8TH

The Fairfield Park Board met for their monthly meeting last Thursday.

Park Superintendent Chris Jenkins reported that the last day for public swimming was August 11th. New flagpoles and flags for each military branch have been installed at Veterans Field at Lakeside Park through donations made in memory of Denny Patridge. (see photo)

Jenkins reported that the dugout at Southwest Park has been repaired along with repairs made to the announcer’s booth. A light pole safety issue at Veterans Field was discussed.

 

In Old Business;

An update on the Splash Pad: The Commissioners approved a Resolution to authorize and submit the application for an IDNR OLAD Grant for the Splash Pad Project.

Regarding Southwest Park Drainage Issues: Concrete work was discussed to remedy the drainage issues at the Southwest Park ballfield with the work expected to be completed in phases.

In New Business:

The matter was discussed concerning Fairfield Rotary Clubs use of the park for Arts Festival. The matter was discussed and no action was taken.

Pool Manager Lauren Grace Conard presented a written report of pool activities over the summer which was discussed by the Commissioners.

As for the Bond Ordinance Notice/Set Hearing, the Commissioners approved a Public Hearing to be held August 29, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. at the Leo French Maintenance Building for the purpose of the issuance of $225,000 in Park Improvement Bonds and the publication of notice of such hearing.
