Donald L. Kittinger, 86, of Carmi, Illinois, died Monday, September 2, 2024, at Wabash Senior Living and Rehabilitation in Carmi. He was born August 25, 1938, in Carmi, the son of Herman and Lucille (Hill) Kittinger. He was married to Connie Lou (Parrish) Kittinger, and she preceded him in death on July 12, 2014.
Don was well-known in the community as a retired school teacher and his second career as the City Clerk for the City of Carmi. He also served as janitor at the United Methodist Church in Carmi, where he was also a long-time member. In recent years, Don enjoyed flying his drone.
Survivors include son Brad (Monya) Kittinger of Brunswick, Maine; daughter-in-law Melissa Kittinger of Carmi; sister Pat Long of Carmi; grandchildren Fallon Kittinger, Hunter Kittinger-Welch, Trenton Kittinger, Gibson Kittinger, Jonah Kittinger; great grandchild Kàra Kittinger; niece Amy Long.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; and son Scott Kittinger.
In keeping with Don’s wishes, his remains were cremated. A celebration of Don’s life will be at a later date.
