FAIRFIELD JR MULES FOOTBALL UPDATE:
There’s been a schedule change for Fairfield Jr. Mules Football this Saturday. Due to track construction at Christopher, Jr. Mules will be at HOME and also note game time changes with Christopher. There will be a short 5th/6th scrimmage for players who may not play often as the 3rd/4th game will start at 2 PM; 5th/6th game at 4 PM. The 7th/8th game will remain the same start time at 7 PM.

MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL:
The St. Louis Cardinals took the rubber match of their series against the Milwaukee Brewers with a 3-2 ten-inning win at American Family Field. St. Louis scored a pair of runs in the first, but Milwaukee tied the game at two in the bottom of the eighth. Luken Baker drove in the go-ahead run with an RBI single in the tenth, and Ryan Fernandez shut the door to record his second save. Andrew Kittredge earned his third win in relief. St. Louis has won four of five and is in third place in the NL Central at 71-and-69. St. Louis hosts Seattle tomorrow night.

The Cubs combined to no-hit the Pirates in a 12-0 win from Wrigley Field. Shota Imanaga gave up just two walks and struck out seven batters over his seven-inning start. Nate Pearson and Porter Hodge didn’t allow a walk over the final two frames. Cody Bellinger and Dansby Swanson blasted two-run homers while Pete Crow-Armstrong slugged a solo shot and drove in three runs. Chicago remains four-and-a-half games behind the Braves for the last NL Wild Card spot at 72-and-68. The Northsiders host the Yankees tomorrow. In other club news, the Cubs placed starting pitcher Justin Steele and reliever Jorge Lopez on the 15-day injured list yesterday.

The White Sox snapped a 12-game losing streak after blowing out the Orioles 8-1 at Camden Yards. Jonathan Cannon was credited with the win after striking out four and allowing one run over five and two-thirds innings. Nicky Lopez, Andrew Vaughn, and Dominic Fletcher each went deep in the victory. Chicago is now 32-and-109. The Southsiders are back in action against the Red Sox tomorrow night.

NFL:
Week One of the NFL season is finally here. The action kicks off on Thursday Night Football when the defending champion Chiefs begin their quest for a three-peat when Lamar Jackson and the Ravens visit Arrowhead Stadium. The fun rolls into the league’s first regular season game on a Friday night since 1970 when the Eagles and Packers square off in the NFL’s first-ever game from Brazil. The traditional Sunday slate features Steelers-Falcons, Jaguars-Dolphins and Cowboys-Browns with the nightcap showcasing a battle between the Rams and Lions in Detroit. The week wraps up with Aaron Rodgers and the Jets facing the reigning NFC Champion 49ers at Levi’s Stadium.

 

WNBA NEWS:

Caitlin Clark secured her second career triple-double and also just the second triple-double by ANY rookie in WNBA history, as the Indiana Fever beat the Los Angeles Sparks 93-86. It is the 5th win in a row for the Fever as they try to cement a playoff spot in the WNBA.
During the win, Clark made her 100th career three-pointer in just her 34th game, which makes her the quickest player to reach 100 three-point shots made in WNBA history.
