– A Mt. Vernon, IL man has been charged with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Arson after Mt. Vernon Police responded to the 1100 block of Welkins for a report of gun shots around 7:35 Thursday morning.
Police found a house that had been shot and evidence of an attempted fire to an outbuilding. No one was injured.
Officers and police detectives investigated the incident and caught 33-year-old Deaaron Rudd of Mt. Vernon at South 12th Street and Prairie at 4:16 p.m.
Search warrants were also conducted at other locations to recover evidence.
Rudd was currently on parole from IDOC. An IDOC warrant was issued for his parole violation.
