The Mount Vernon Outland Airport’s recognition includes a sign and a plaque, with airport officials crediting the local EAA chapter for their support in making the event successful. Illinois has a robust aviation system with 100 public-use airports and heliports, nearly 3,000 registered aircraft, and an impressive economic impact, supporting over 492,000 jobs and generating $21.9 billion in payroll. The total economic impact of the state’s airports is estimated at $95.5 billion.
