TRAVEL SOFTBALL TEAM RESULTS FROM SUNDAY:
Fairfield Fury 14u won the Think Pink Softball Tournament in Evansville Sunday going undefeated in the tourney. The team consists of players are from Fairfield, Mt Carmel, Albion and Evansville. The Fury is coached by Hillary Vaughan who just led the New Hopy Lady Panthers to the Class S Softball State Championship for the second year in a row going undefeated with a season ending record, 23-0.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL SATURDAY:
he number-21 Illinois Fighting Illini avoided disaster with a 50-49 overtime win against Purdue at Memorial Stadium on Saturday. The Illini had a 27-10 lead midway through the third period, but Purdue scored 40 second-half points to take a three-point lead late. David Olano kicked a 38-yard field goal to tie the game as time expired, and Luke Altmyer tossed a 25-yard pass to Pat Bryant on the first play of overtime. Purdue scored on its OT possession, but the Boilermakers failed to convert on a two-point conversion to try to win the game. Altmyer passed for 379 yards and three touchdowns in the win, while adding 60 yards and a score on the ground. The Illini are 5-and-1 overall and 2-and-1 in the Big Ten. Illinois hosts number-24 Michigan this Saturday.
