Christina Diane Cook, age 63, of Xenia Illinois, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2024, at her home.
Chris was born on September 5, 1961, in Flora, to Charles Everett and Sue (Mattox) Spitzner.  On New Year’s Day, January 1, 1998, she married her soulmate, Roy Alan Cook, in Xenia.  Together, they shared 26 cherished years as each other’s best friend and the love of each other’s life.
She is survived by her husband: Roy Cook of Xenia; her stepson: David Cook and wife Samantha of Kansas; her brother: Charles “Chuck” Everett Spitzner and wife Linda of Rinard; as well as Spitzner family nieces and a nephew including: Shannon Fehrenbacher and husband Bryce, Nick Spitzner and wife Bethanny, and Danielle King and husband Vince; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; and grandparents: Clarence and Mary Spitzner, and Lucille Colclasure.
Chris’s kindness is something everyone who knew her will remember.  She had a rare gift for listening and often provided a comforting presence to anyone who needed to talk.  Her caring heart embraced her friends and also her beloved “fur babies,” the cats and dogs she adored, each one dear to her heart.
One of her passions was helping to organize the All ’70s Flora High School Reunion, where she enjoyed seeing classmates come together year after year.  She loved flowers and brightening people’s days, finding joy in her past work at Angela’s Village Florist.  Chris treasured peaceful moments, especially sitting on her front porch listening to the gentle chime of wind bells, but also getting out in the open and sharing spirited side-by-side rides with friends.
A funeral ceremony for Chris will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.  Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.  A visitation will take place from 4 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.  Memorial donations are suggested to a love fund to help with expenses for Chris, and these will be accepted through the funeral home.  To share a condolence or memory, visit:  www.frankandbright.com
