HIGH SCHOOL SECTIONAL CROSS COUNTRY RESULTS FROM SATURDAY:
Fairfield Lady Mules Cross Country team and Grant Jennette from the Mules Boys Cross Country Team are both headed to state. Lady Mules finish 5th overall. It is the first time in school history for the Lady Mules cross country team to qualify for the state meet as a team. Grant finishes 14th. This is Grants 3rd time in a row to qualify for state as an individual.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL:
The Illinois Fighting Illini dropped out of the top-25 following a 25-17 loss to the Minnesota Gophers at Memorial Stadium on Saturday. The Illini led by one with about five minutes left in regulation before giving up a go-ahead touchdown to Jameson Geers. Luke Altmyer lost a fumble in the final minute during a potential game-tying drive. The Illini are in seventh place in the Big Ten with a 3-and-3 conference record and a 6-and-3 mark overall. Illinois hosts Michigan State on November 16th.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL:
The number-24 Illinois Fighting Illini begin their 2024-25 men’s basketball campaign with a contest against Eastern Illinois at State Farm Center tonight. The Illini have made the NCAA Tournament in each of the last four seasons, making it to the Elite Eight in 2024. Tonight’s game will tip off at 7:00PM.

College hoops gets underway tonight. Highly-touted freshman Cooper Flagg and fifth-ranked Duke host Maine at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Number 23 Kentucky begins its season at Rupp Arena against Wright State. This season is the first since 2008-09 the Wildcats have not been led by John Calipari. The top two teams in the nation are in action. Top-ranked Kansas hosts Howard and second-ranked Alabama hosts UNCA Asheville. The best game of the day is seventh-ranked Gonzaga hosting eighth-ranked Baylor in a rematch of the 2021 national title game. Two-time defending champion UConn starts its season Wednesday against Sacred Heart.

BASEBALL NEWS:
The best fielders in Major League Baseball are being recognized. The winners of the annual Gold Glove awards have been announced. Giants third baseman Matt Chapman won for the fifth time in his career. Guardians second baseman Andres Gimenez, Diamondbacks first baseman Christian Walker, Cubs left fielder Ian Happ and Guardians left fielder Steven Kwan all won for the third straight year. Rockies center fielder Brenton Doyle won for the second consecutive season. There were 14 first-time winners with the headliner of the group being Royals superstar shortstop Bobby Witt Jr.
