Brenda Lynn Pennington, 63, of Carmi, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana. She was born on May 15, 1961, in Bath, Michigan, the daughter of Donald and Helen (Irvin) Russell. Brenda married Harold Elmer “Corkie” Pennington, Jr. on December 16, 1986, and he survives. She worked as the circulation manager at the Carmi Times for many years. Brenda volunteered at the Legion Baseball concessions. She loved her family, especially her grandsons.
In addition to her husband, Harold Pennington of Carmi, IL, Brenda is survived by her grandsons, Jacob and Kaden Pennington; a step-daughter, Kendra Pennington; siblings, Glenda Connor of Carmi, IL, Donald (Glenda) Russell of Kempner, TX. Darrel (Stephanie) Russell of Mt. Vernon, IN. Roy (Vicki) Russell of New Haven, IL. and step-sister, Patt Curles of Indianapolis, IN; sisters-in-law, Rosemary (Jack) Aud and Becky (Scott) Flowers; several nieces and nephews; and a very special niece and nephew, James and Pamela Pack who helped care for Brenda. She is preceded in death by her parents; and her mother-in law and father-in-law, Danelle Holtzclaw and Harold Pennington.
Funeral services for Brenda Pennington will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, with burial at Union Ridge Cemetery near New Haven, Illinois. Family and friends may visit from 12:00 p.m. until time of service on Saturday, November 23, 2024. Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi is in charge of arrangements.
