Frontier Community College has hired Chet Snyder to serve as Head Volleyball Coach and Student Life Coordinator, beginning on Monday, December 2nd.
Snyder began coaching volleyball at Fairfield Community High School in 2004, with the 2024 fall season being his final season at FCHS. His overall record of 543 wins and 210 losses makes him the winningest volleyball coach in FCHS history, as well as the winningest across all sports at FCHS. Throughout his tenure as Lady Mules’ volleyball coach, Snyder finished with a winning percentage of 73% and never experienced a losing season.
Under his leadership, Snyder’s Lady Mules volleyball teams have been a dominant force in the Black Diamond Conference East Division, winning 13 BDC-East titles. His teams have secured six regional titles and two consecutive sectional championships in 2018 and 2019. The 2019 team finished with a record of 37-3, marking the best season of his coaching career. Over the years, 18 of his seasons featured 20 or more wins, including five seasons with over 30 wins.
Many Lady Mules volleyball players under Snyder have gone on to play at the next level, furthering their academic and athletic careers at colleges and universities. For the past few years, Snyder also coached volleyball at Jasper Grade School.
FCC Athletic Director Jeremy Ellis says, “I’m excited about the hiring of Chet Snyder. Chet has been a part of the community for a long time and has been a very successful coach at the high school level. I’m looking forward to the opportunity he has to come to Frontier and help build our tradition here.”
Ellis added, “We’re looking forward to growing and expanding, and this is an opportunity for kids and students to engage in more activities on campus. We plan to organize events in the future, providing more opportunities and a better experience for our students and student-athletes. I believe both aspects of his role present an exciting time for Frontier and our athletic department.”
