Ahead of Thanksgiving, several local volunteer organizations within the 58th Senate District received free turkeys, courtesy of a collaboration between State Senator Terri Bryant (R-Murphysboro) and Meridian Health Plan of Illinois, Inc.
“This initiative is about more than just providing food—it’s about giving families the opportunity to come together and celebrate the holiday traditions that make this season so meaningful,” said Senator Bryant. “I’m incredibly thankful to Meridian Health and the dedicated volunteers who helped make this effort possible.”
On Monday, Senator Bryant distributed the donated turkeys to eight volunteer organizations in the communities of Fairfield, Mt. Vernon, Mt. Carmel, and Sesser. The turkeys will be used to support Thanksgiving dinners for Southern Illinois families in need.
“Southern Illinois is a region known for its compassion and generosity. Time and again, our community steps up to support one another,” Senator Bryant added. “This turkey giveaway is yet another example of how we can come together to ensure everyone has the chance to enjoy a meaningful Thanksgiving.”
The turkeys were generously donated by Meridian Health, a company that provides government-sponsored managed care services for families, children, seniors, and individuals with complex medical needs.
