REND LAKE CLOSES VARIOUS LOCATIONS DUE TO FIREARM DEER HUNTING SEASON

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Rend Lake reminds visitors that several locations around the lake will be temporarily closed during the state firearm deer hunting seasons.

 

Recreation Area Closures:

The following areas will be closed to all vehicle and foot traffic during the first firearm deer season this Friday through Sunday:

North Sandusky: Day use area, boat ramp, and campground

South Sandusky: Day use area, campground, beach, and boat ramp

South Marcum: Day use area and campground

Blackberry Nature Trail

North Marcum: Archery Complex, Mountain Bike Trails, and Bike Trails

These closures ensure the safety of participants in the annual Rend Lake Deer Hunt for Persons with Disabilities.

Bike Trail Closures:

All sections of the Rend Lake Bike Trail managed by the Corps of Engineers will also be temporarily closed during all firearm deer hunting seasons to those not actively participating in deer hunting.

Impacted trail sections include:

The segment starting west of the Franklin Cemetery to the North Marcum day use area

Trails from the North Sandusky day use area to the South Marcum campground

Catfish Cove Pond and Trail near the Rend Lake Visitor Center

 

Closure Dates:

Closures will occur on the following dates:

This Friday through Sunday

Dec. 5th – 8th

Dec. 13th – 15th

Dec. 26th – 29th

Jan. 17th – 19th, 2025

 

Federal law prohibits the use of motorized vehicles, including ATVs, on government-managed properties. Visitors accessing hunting areas must comply with these regulations.
