During last (Thursday) night’s meeting of the Wayne County Board, the board reorganized as Daryl Hargrave was unanimously re-elected as Board Chairman and Gene Kollak was unanimously re-elected Vice-Chairman.
The agenda was light; 3 ARPA requests were approved: $75,000 for the Highway Department, $34,758 for the Sheriff/Corrections Department for remodels, and $5,000 for the Small Business Development Center at Frontier Community College.
This was the final disbursement of ARPA funds and the remaining balance will be used for further courthouse repairs.
Following a short executive session, the board unanimously approved the appointment of Kyle Ellis as Wayne County States Attorney. He indicated a desire to work closely with the County Board and indicated that he is in the process of finding an assistant to help with the workload in his office, a budget item already funded.
The board approved a resolution by the Wayne County trustees for Brad Walker to purchase two parcels of land and the board approved a request by Yvette Anderson, Treasurer, and Georgiana Fletcher, Circuit Clerk, to close the courthouse on Christmas Eve.
