Bonnie Jean Gay, 84, of Carmi

 Bonnie Jean Gay, 84, of Carmi, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Wabash Senior Living in Carmi. She was born on August 22, 1940, in Princeton, Indiana, the daughter of Royal and Mary Josephine (Walker) Martin. Bonnie married Clarence Edward Gay on November 6, 1981, and he preceded her in death on May 7, 2000. She worked as a bookkeeper for Koontz Services. Bonnie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carmi.

     Bonnie is survived by her sons, Scott Ready of Mt. Vernon, IL. and Derek (Kona) Ready of Grayville, IL; grandchildren, Sheena (Patrick) Dudley of Mt. Vernon, IL, Zoey Ready of Las Vegas, NV, Tyler (Jamie) Compton of Grayville, IL. and Keegan (Tiffany) Ready of Grayville, IL; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Lois (Ted) Wood of Carmi, IL; and a niece and two nephews. In addition to her husband, Clarence Edward Gay, Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents.

The family would like to give very heartfelt thanks to everyone at Wabash Senior Living for their excellent care for Bonnie.

Funeral services for Bonnie Jean Gay will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will be in White County Memorial Garden in Carmi. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Bonnie’s memory to the Baptist Children’s Home and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home or by mail to 609 W.Main St., Carmi, IL 62821.
