Doris Jean (Taylor) Malone, 86, of White County

 Doris Jean (Taylor) Malone was born December 21, 1938, in rural Mills Shoals, Illinois, to Sherman Ivan and Lucy Lorene (Files) Taylor and departed this life, surrounded by family, January 3, 2025. She was a retired high school teacher and was a member of IRTA and Carmi First Christian Church. Jean enjoyed attending Bible studies, Red Hat meetings, reunions and family outings, reading, shopping (in her younger years), studying history and watching college basketball games.

     She is survived by three sons, Steve (Susie), Marion, IL, Mike (Lynn) Grand Island, FL and Eddie (Tisha) Evansville, IN; six grandchildren, Sara (Skyler) Geissinger, Nick, Connor, Mason, Jenna, and Eric Malone; two step-grandchildren, Bryon Stewart and Stephanie (Tim) Jakowski; three step-great-grandchildren, Ava Dorsey, Bevon Stewart and Magnolia Jakowski; siblings, Cheryl (Ed) Johnson, Chenoa, IL and Jimmy (Elisa) Taylor of Fairfield, IL; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin (2019); parents, Ivan (1989), Lucy (1999), step mother, Lois (2016); four sisters, Dorothy Preston (2003), Marykay Wilkerson (2016), Jo Rankin (2022) and Linda Smothers (2024)

Funeral services for Doris Jean (Taylor) Malone will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will be in White County Memorial Garden. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Jean’s memory to St Jude Children’s Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home or by mail to 609 W. Main St., Carmi, IL 62821
