MULTI-VEHICLE ACCIDENT ON I-57 IN MT. VERNON MONDAY AFTERNOON INJURES THREE

Three individuals were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on I-57 in Mt. Vernon, involving a semi-trailer and a car. The incident occurred at milepost 91 on Monday afternoon. The semi driver, a 44-year-old man from Baton Rouge, LA, was hospitalized, along with two passengers from the car, a 21-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman from Tennessee. The condition of the car’s driver remains unknown. The left lane of southbound I-57 remained open during the incident. The Illinois State Police are continuing their investigation but have no further information available at this time.
