The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has reported that hunters harvested a preliminary total of 170,758 deer during the 2024-2025 deer seasons, which is an increase from the 160,313 deer harvested in 2023-2024.
Here’s a breakdown of the harvest totals by season:
Archery Season: 73,598 deer (up from 71,226 in 2023-2024)
Youth Season: 4,057 deer (down from 4,576 in 2023)
Firearm Season: 82,496 deer (up from 76,494 in 2023)
Muzzleloader Season: 2,832 deer (down from 3,378 in 2023)
Late-Winter and CWD Seasons: 7,775 deer (up from 4,639 in 2023-2024)
During the overall harvest, 46.27% of the deer were female and 53.72% were male. Final harvest totals by season and county will be published in an annual report later in the spring.
