Marilyn Ruth (Niccum) Green, 88, of Wayne City

Marilyn Ruth (Niccum) Green, 88, of Wayne City, IL passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Deaconess Illinois Crossroads Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL.  Marilyn was born July 14, 1936 in Sims, IL to Ottis & Elsie (Miller) Niccum.  On August 23, 1958 she married Leo Green, who preceded her in death on May 5, 2018.

Marilyn was a homemaker, and had previously worked in the office at Airtex in Fairfield, IL.  She served on the Kissner Public Library Board in Wayne City for over 20 years.  She loved gardening, and was very proud of her flowers.  She enjoyed baking, and was known for making delicious pies.  She also enjoyed playing piano, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, and she loved spending time with her family.

Marilyn is survived by a daughter Tammy Braddock of Sims, IL; a son Alan (Darla) Green of Wayne City, a daughter Lisa Brooks of Breese, IL; a daughter Ruth Ann (Brian) Kirsch of Troy, IL and a son Jeremy Green of Mt. Vernon, IL; 12 grandchildren: Jerod Braddock, Charity Braddock, Jason Braddock, Justin (Erin) Braddock, Josh Braddock, Todd (Jenny) Green, Amber Green, Emily (Trevor) Pasley, Sara (Caleb) Kunce, Eric (Morgan) Green, Allison Green & significant other Ricky Garner, and Abby Green; 14 great-grandchildren with one on the way; a brother Eldon (Mary Sue) Niccum of Fairfield, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ottis & Elsie Niccum, her husband Leo Green, a sister Dorothy Legg, an infant sister, and a brother-in-law Lowell Legg.

Funeral services for Marilyn Ruth (Niccum) Green will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at the Archie Sanders Memorial Chapel in Wayne City with Rev. Trevor Pasley officiating.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Archie Sanders Memorial Chapel.  Interment will follow the funeral service at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kissner Public Library or the Thomason Cemetery Fund and will be accepted at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City.
