The Wayne County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the selection of the 2024 Business of the Year recipient is Fairfield Banking Company. A branch of The Clay City Banking Co, they opened in the “Little Red Shed” as it was called in June of 2011 as a Loan Production Office. It was located on Delaware next to Doug Aman State Farm. On February 21st, 2012 Fairfield Banking Company was officially a bank branch that could operate as such with full service deposits and loans. They secured land at 915 Commerce Drive and moved into a double-wide temporary facility that was fully equipped with a drive thru, vault, offices and teller area. Ron Hart, the bank president at the time, had a vision of what would be an inviting place to do your banking business with quaint charm and sense of belonging. He wanted the customers to feel welcome and at home when they walked in the doors, he had the vision to make sure large farm trucks, machinery, livestock trailers and semis could comfortably park their rig while their banking was completed. He left no detail to spare when he finished it off with the landscaping that provides a picture back drop for many school dances, graduations and photography class assignments. The bank was able to move into their new brick and mortar building in January of 2015 that is now called home today. The bank supports Bank N Treat, Fall Fun Fest Prince and Princess Contest, Christmas Parade Float and staff involvement in many community organizations, civic and school boards, Rural Fire, Wayne County Farm Bureau and FFA Alumni.
This is the 58th year the award has been granted. Recognition will be at the annual Chamber Dinner on Monday, March 10th at the Willow Creek Venue with happy hour beginning at 5:00 p.m.
That evening the recipient of the 2025 Community Service Award and the New Business of the Year will be announced, along with recognition of Fairfield Banking Company.
