Some area rivers remain on the high side as of this morning. Here’s the latest stages: the Little Wabash River east of Fairfield is above flood stage at 22.72 feet. Flood stage is 17 feet. At Clay City the river is at 7.73 feet. Flood stage is 18 feet. At Carmi the river is at 26.6 feet, just below the 27-foot flood stage. The Skillet Fork at Wayne City is at 5.85 feet. Flood stage is 15 feet. The Wabash River at Mt. Carmel is at 11.76 feet. Flood stage is 19 feet. Bonpas Creek at Browns is at 6.76 feet.
The current forecast is indicating a warmup this weekend and into next week, following several days with temperatures well below normal. High temperatures are forecast to get into the middle 50s by next week, with dry conditions until midweek.
The extended forecasts are indicating near normal temperatures and below normal precipitation for the six to ten day outlook. As we enter March, the 8 to 14 day outlook is indicating below normal temperatures expected for March 1st through 7th, and near normal precipitation. The 30-day outlook for March, released this past Thursday, shows equal chances for above or below normal temperatures, and favors above normal precipitation.
