Rosemary L. Cox, passed away peacefully, with friends by her side, on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital Skilled Care Unit.
She was born on August 16, 1939, to Geneva (Fitch) Porter. She married Jimmie Cox on September 4, 1965, and together they enjoyed traveling to include trips sponsored by Western Auto where Jimmie worked and later had ownership. They also liked to attend music shows in the Kentucky area and the Edgewood, Illinois area.
Rosemary retired after working in the Trust Department at the Wayne County Bank, in Fairfield, Illinois, for twenty-five years and later worked at the Fairfield National Bank for several years. She was a hardworking, generous person. She was an excellent cook and baker as a result of her experience working at The Grill in Fairfield and managing a restaurant south of Fairfield for the Wayne County Bank.
Rosemary was a member of First Christian Church, Fairfield, Illinois.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Jimmie; her mother Geneva (Fitch) Porter; grandparents Sherman and Emma Fitch; and in-laws, Jim and Clemence Cox. She is survived by several cousins and friends including caretakers that became friends.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery, Fairfield, Illinois. Nale’s Funeral Home of Fairfield is in charge of the service.
Memorials may be given to the Skilled Care Unit Activity Fund at Fairfield Memorial Hospital and will be accepted at the graveside or at the funeral home.
