Karen D. Raber, 65, of Browns

Karen D. Raber, 65, of Browns, Illinois passed away Friday, March 7, 2025, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville, Indiana with family by her side.

A Funeral service for Karen will be Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Short-Cunningham Funeral Home in Mt. Carmel. Visitation for family and friends will be from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. before the service. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Albion, Illinois. Donations can be given to Mt. Zion Cemetery Fund in her memory.

Karen was born November11, 1959 in Charles City, Iowa to Richard and Mildred (Summers) Kennard. She married Merle E. Raber at Friedens Church on April 14, 1984. They were together for forty years.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Hannah C. Raber of Newport, Tennessee; and siblings Kevin (Debbie) Kennard of Keensburg, Illinois and Kristin Kennard of Browns, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Karen was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church of Albion, Illinois. She graduated from Mt. Carmel High School Class of 1978 and Wabash Valley College. She worked as a Customer Service Representative for Farm Credit for forty years.

She loved camping and just being outside. She enjoyed horseback riding and hanging with her dog Rowdy.
