Wabash County Sheriff’s Department officials are saddened to announce the passing of their first K9, Roy, who died Thursday evening at his home.
K9 Roy was 12 years old and known for his impressive skills as a crime fighter, having seized over 90 grams of methamphetamine during a single traffic stop. Officials noted that he was adept at locating drugs, firearms, and even a Deputy’s lost sunglasses.
Roy had the opportunity to showcase his abilities in St. Louis, where he competed alongside larger K9s. Following his retirement, he lived in Tennessee and Lawrence County. His contributions to the department and the community will be greatly missed.
