The Illinois State Police welcomed 32 new troopers Friday from Cadet Class 149 at a graduation ceremony at the Illinois State Police Academy in Springfield. The new troopers will report to all ten of the ISP Troop locations around the state on Sunday. Cadet Class 149 marks the 21st cadet class graduation under Governor J.B.Pritzker and ISP Director Brendan F. Kelly. Since 2019, 597 troopers have joined the Illinois State Police.
In our area, two troopers will be assigned to Troop 9, which serves the Effingham and Carmi areas, and four troopers will be assigned to Troop 10, which serves the DuQuoin and Ullin areas.
Governor Pritzker said, “Since I took office, my administration has welcomed 597 new troopers,including the 32 brave men and women who now begin the next chapter of their career in law enforcement. Today, we honor the commitment they’ve made to the people of Illinois and are deeply grateful for their service.”
As of July 1, 2024, new troopers earn around $90,000 in compensation upon graduation from the Illinois State Police Academy. Anyone interested in joining can visit www.illinoistrooper.com for application information.
